Candidate Profile: Wellington-Halton Hills – Dan Zister – Liberal

A dedicated leader, Dan Zister has been an active community volunteer his whole life.

Born on a horse farm in Woolwich Township, Dan was one of five children raised with a strong work ethic and deep-seated community values by his mother Marlene, a nurse, and father Cyril.

A Bachelor of Science graduate from the University of Ottawa, Dan has had a successful career working as a consultant in the financial and technology sectors since 1995. Taking a leadership role while working for fortune 500 companies around the world, Dan has become a strong voice for corporate responsibility, advocating for sensible choices that will create a secure future for everyone. Passionate about income inequality issues, Dan is excited to stand behind Kathleen Wynne’s plan to raise funding for housing for low-income families, child health benefits and more employment opportunities for those with disabilities.

In Wellington-Halton Hills Dan is an advocate for smarter investments in transportation and infrastructure, including all-day two-way Go Train service from Georgetown to Toronto and a Highway 6 bypass in Morriston. Dan has devoted time to working with charity, church and community groups wherever he’s lived. Dan encourages the growth of those around him, engaging those he volunteers with and helping them to become stronger local leaders.

When he’s not working, learning, or giving back to his community, Dan is an avid sailor, floor hockey player, and runner. Dan is also a dedicated Leafs fan. Dan is the proud uncle to five nieces and nephews.

Recently Dan has split his time between Toronto, working for one of Canada’s most successful financial firms, and Waterloo, helping his parents run the family farm. He will be moving to Wellington-Halton Hills with his partner Cheryl.
