Candidate Profile: Perth-Wellington – Stewart Skinner – Liberal

A sixth generation Perth-Wellington family farmer, agricultural advocate and rural-urban connector, Stewart is committed to growing our rural economy, creating local jobs and delivering real results.

A life-long local resident of the Listowel area, Stewart’s advocacy for rural Ontario stems from his commitment to fostering respect and understanding between rural and urban communities.

Stewart firmly believes that Ontario is at its best when it celebrates the diversity that makes it the best place in Canada to live, work and farm.

Stewart is an active member of his community; currently serving as a delegate to Ontario Pork and as the Chair of the Communications Committee for the Perth County Pork Producers Association. Stewart was also the fundraising and sponsorship co-chair on the World Association of Agriculture Council’s 2006 AGM in Guelph.

Prior to seeking public office Stewart worked as a commodity trader in Mitchell, completed a Master’s of Science in agriculture economics, taught at the University of Guelph and returned to his roots to work on the family farm.

Stewart lives in Listowel with his wife Jessica. He is an avid Sports enthusiast, taking advantage of the many adult recreational leagues in the area and has previously volunteered as a minor soccer and hockey coach.

Stewart is running on a commitment to invest in health care and education, including maintaining programs like full-day kindergarten.

If elected, Stewart’s main priorities are enhancing access to mental health services in Perth-Wellington, improving access to natural gas across rural Ontario and ensuring continued investment in our communities’ roads and bridges.
