I, Chris Desjardins, am running for MPP for the Perth-Wellington district.
This is a crucial election with many high profile issues that need to be addressed. As an elected official, the duty should be to remember the past but think of the future. Our present system tends to focus on the next four years with little thought of the next 14 or 40.
I am a very proud father that feels there is not enough being done for our children. With the baby boomers nearing or at retirement, I don’t feel enough has been done or is being done for their future.
Health care, education and energy costs continue to rise with no end in sight. All these problems can be addressed systematically to reduce the costs on taxpayers while still enjoying the same level that is expected.
Many of my local friends, family and co-workers have seen the numerous community activities I have been involved with. I have coached youth Sports for eight years, served as chair of the Pesticide Free Committee, and as vice-chair of the Energy and Environment Committee.
My involvement in other committee groups has given me the opportunity to clean up the City of Stratford, inform others of energy efficiency and conservation, and promote local shopping. There are so many proud things that our community has done, and I am happy to say I have been involved in a lot of them.
Moving forward, there are still many things that need to be done to ensure our quality of life can be maintained and passed on to our children.
