Cancer Patient Services funds hospital equipment

MOUNT FOREST – Earlier this month, Cancer Patient Services Corporation (CPSC) donated $70,000 to the Mount Forest Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation (LMHF), continuing its long-standing support of the hospital.

Cancer Patient Services is a charitable organization that provides support, transportation and other services to cancer patients in Mount Forest and the surrounding community.

Over the years, the organization has been a strong supporter of the Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest by helping to fund equipment that aids in the diagnosis or treatment of cancer.

This most recent gift of $70,000 was presented by CPSC president Maureen Dineen and directors Brenda Harris and Jeannie Warmington to LMHF directors Mel Robinson and Donna Leach.

This donation will fund colonoscopes for the surgical department at Louise Marshall Hospital and brings CPSC’s total lifetime donations to the hospital to more than $400,000.

In 2024, Cancer Patient Services Corporation also made a donation of $100,000 to bring Magseed technology – used in breast cancer surgery – to Louise Marshall Hospital; as well as a $60,000 gift, which funded in full an automated medication dispensing cabinet, also known as an Omnicell cabinet, for the oncology unit at the hospital.

“Cancer Patient Services has been blessed to have the continued support of the whole of our community,” Dineen said.

“We take very seriously the responsibility of seeing that your donations help bring ‘cancer care close to home’ and that we are able to provide assistance when and where needed.

“The Thrift Shop is a very important source of funds for Cancer Patient Services and the support of this volunteer organization has been invaluable.”

Dineen added, “If you are in need of guidance, having received a cancer diagnosis, please reach out to our Cancer Care Coordinator at 519-323-0255 ext. 5014. Help is but a phone call away.”

LMHF board chair Scott Hartle expressed gratitude for the support, stating, “Cancer Patient Services brings an invaluable service to our community. We are incredibly fortunate to have the support of individuals who believe in this cause and that the team at Cancer Patient Services is helping the hospital bring in the equipment it needs to take care of cancer patients in our community.”
