The Upper Grand District School Board and the Upper Grand Contract Teachers’ Local of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario have announced they have reached a tentative collective agreement.

The agreement was reached on April 23 and was presented to the teachers and trustees at ratification votes which were to be held on April 29 (ETFO) and April 28 (Upper Grand school board).

“We look forward to the ratification of this agreement,” said chairman of the board, Bob Borden. “The positive relationship between the board and its teachers made it possible for both teams to work together with the ultimate goal of reaching a fair settlement.” Ruth McLean, president of the local federation, said, “We worked to incorporate the provincial discussion table agreement language and to resolve local issues in this tentative contract. We’re optimistic that our members will ratify this agreement.” The federation represents approximately 1,300 public elementary contract teachers who work in 62 schools in the Upper Grand district.
