Big winners at Erin Air Cadets Lasagna Dinner

On Feb. 8, the Erin 442 Branch Legion Hall was the place to be.

With over 90 raffle items, 12 silent auction items; a 32” flat screen TV and jars of jelly beans and gummy bears, there was something for everyone.

A total of 180 people came out to support to the 242 Ross Ferguson Squadron Air Cadets annual fundraiser.

The event is the one of main sources of income to assist the squadron in offering field trips, multi-unit Sports competition weekends, shooting/biathlon team, special events such as our upcoming squadron ski day at Mansfield Outdoor Centre and for the Squadron Annual Review in June of each year.

While many items were offered, those drawing the most attention were the TV and PS4.

Winning the Phillips 32” LED flat screen TV, which was donated by the Optimists of Erin, was Irene Smith of Brampton. Irene is the mother of Rob Smith of Erin Auto Recycling.   Winning the Play Station 4 gaming system, donated by the Buonafede Family, was FCpl Lukas Dornhoff from 242 Ross Ferguson Squadron.

The organizing committee is very grateful for the assistance from a great team of volunteers with everything throughout the day from set up to tear down.

Everything ran smoothly, people enjoyed a great meal catered by Fergies Fine Foods, they were entertained by TEMPO the high school band.   According to organizers, it was the most profitable fundraiser in the last five years.

For those interested in getting involved with a great program, enrollment is ongoing for young people between 12 and 19 years of age and volunteers are always welcome.  The group meets every Tuesday at the Legion at 7:00 p.m. For more information check our new website: http://www.242erinaircadets.com/
