Barbecue benefits Clifford food bank

Packages, bags and boxes of food lined the sidewalk in front of Trish and Randy Ruetz’ business, Larry Grummett Insurance (LGI) as workers, business owners, and townsfolk joined in a day of celebration and barbecuing outdoors for the Christmas Food Drive for the Clifford Food Bank on Nov. 20.
Donors of non-perishable food items or cash invited everyone to enjoy a hamburger and water or pop in support of the Clifford Food Bank. Cookies and donuts completed the meal.
Local businesses, service clubs and organizations were invited and Rosemary Newman led the way as Blair Wightman carried in two large boxes filled to the top.
People passing by on the street curious about the event were also invited to have a burger and show their support of the people in need in the area.
About 80 people enjoyed 100 hamburgers, as close to $300 was raised for the food bank.
