Badley Bridge work in Elora is slated to commence in late May

It will be a summer of construction over the Badley Bridge in the downtown here.

While there will still be a bit of confusion over the bridge crossing of Grand River to Mill Street, sidewalks on both sides of the Badley Bridge are going to be fixed this year.

Mark Eby, engineering services construction manager for the Wellington County roads division, recently stated the tender for the replacement of both sidewalks on the Badley Bridge is let and is scheduled to close on April 2.

With a contract value in excess of $500,000, the work requires the approval of the Wellington County roads committee (April 14) and county council (April 30).

Eby added, “We will work with the contractor to try to have them started shortly after council approval but they will be required to commence by May 19.”

He anticipates work will be concluded by the middle of July.

The west sidewalk, which is currently closed, will be completed first and re-opened for public use sometime in middle to late June.

The east sidewalk will be completed immediately following the west sidewalk.
