Automatic door being looked into

As local municipalities work to make themselves more accessible, it also means there may be considerable costs in the process.

Though Wellington North’s municipal office in Kenilworth is built on a level grade for easier access, councillors are now considering the installation of automatic doors.

The item was brought to council for consideration as part of the building and property committee minutes from last month.

Chief Building Official Darren Jones was directed to provide the committee with a second bid to supply an automatic door opener for the rear door to the municipal office to ensure accessibility

The issue itself still remains at the committee level until a recommendation is made to council.
