WELLINGTON COUNTY – Eddie Alton announced his retirement from his role as social services administrator after 40 years serving in municipal government.

WELLINGTON-HALTON HILLS – Almost as soon as the polls closed, Wellington-Halton Hills incumbent Ted Arnott was in front of the pack and he never relinquished his position. The long-standing PC candidate easily won the June 2 provincial election with 25,049 votes, or 50.6 per cent.

CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce held its Awards of Excellence on May 31, and if Sally Litchfield could rate the event, she’d give it an ‘F’ for “fantastic.”

WELLINGTON COUNTY - Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health is reporting 105 confirmed active cases of COVID-19 throughout the health region as of June 1. As of May 29, there were nine people hospitalized with the virus.

SOUTHGATE – On May 31 at about 8:20pm, emergency crews responded to the scene at a Southgate Township address on the north side of Highway 89, the boundary road between Wellington North and Southgate.

MINTO – One person is dead after an early morning crash here on Friday. Emergency crews responded to a serious collision on Highway 89, east of Harriston, on May 27 at about 6am.

GUELPH – A high school volleyball referee is facing 14 sexual misconduct charges involving teenaged girls working at recent games in Guelph.
