ARTHUR – An Arthur man reported missing more than two weeks ago has been "located," police say.

Arthur resident Benjamin Stewart, 53, was reported missing on April 6 around 4:15pm, according to a police news release.

He was last seen the previous day at around 2pm walking around Frederick Street in Arthur, according to police.

Since April 6, "police have been continuously searching for Benjamin in several locations throughout the county, alongside other neighbouring jurisdictions," the OPP stated in an update on April 22.

The release added that "as a result of the search [Stewart] has been located."

OPP spokesperson Matthew Burton would not comment on the man's condition – or even confirm whether or not he is alive.

"At the request of the family, the individual’s status will not be released," Burton told the Advertiser.

This is the first time the newspaper has received such a response from the OPP.
