Application process opens for Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament funds

Proceeds from annual event benefit Minto non-profit groups

MINTO – The 12th annual Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament will be held Aug. 4 at Pike Lake Golf Centre.

The application process for local groups wishing to receive funds from tournament proceeds is now open and will close on April 4.

The organizing committee is looking for applications from non-profit organizations within the Town of Minto that fit into one of three categories: community betterment, service club or sports club.

Over the past eleven years, the Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament has raised over $117,000 and has assisted 38 local community groups with their financial expenses or events in our community.

Last year, two organizations benefited from the proceeds of Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament: Minto Minor Hockey, which used the funds to purchase additional half-ice boards, and the Palmerston Public School Parent’s Council, which used the funds towards the replacement of a playground structure.

Previous funds have been used to beautify Minto downtowns, purchase new sports equipment, assist a refugee family, support mental health initiatives, and provide support for for the Canada Packers Reunion 2018.

“We look forward to supporting and assisting our local groups again this year,”  organizers state.
