Another serious collision

On Sept. 5 at about 4:55pm the Wellington County OPP received a call regarding a serious collision involving a car and a transport truck on Wellington  Road 7 just north of Sideroad 5 in former Nichol Township.

OPP officers attended along with Guelph-Wellington Emergency Services (EMS) and Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue.

OPP report a 1990 Mack tractor trailer travelling north bound collided with a 2003 Ford Focus that entered the roadway from a private driveway.

The female driver of the car was extricated from the vehicle and transported by land ambulance to Groves Memorial Community Hospital and subsequently airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The male driver of the transport truck was not injured.

The Wellington County OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) assisted by West Region OPP Reconstructionists continue to investigate the collision.

Wellington Road 7 was closed  for a period of time between Wellington Road 18 and Wellington Road 17 while the investigation was ongoing.

No further information was available by press time.
