In the summer of 1996, three friends originally from Elora decided to have a reunion of women their age who had attended either public, Catholic or high school in the area.
Joanne Walser, Margorie Wilton and Barbara Ann Murray formed a committee and enlisted others to help make the reunion a reality on Sept. 21, 1996 at the St. George Arms British Pub in Elora. Approximately 40 women attended the event which has been held every two years since.
The event has grown and developed to include various programs, skits, readings, poems and videos in the day’s activities. The last event held in 2012 had 106 visitors.
Women from in and around Elora are invited to this year’s reunion to reconnect with old friends and make new ones on Sept. 20 at 1pm with a dinner to follow. For more information call 519-843-4634.
