An evening with Lauren Margison planned at Eden Mills Music Hall

EDEN MILLS – As a prelude to Valentine’s Day, Eden Mills Music at the Hall presents the talented and versatile young soprano Lauren Margison to perform in Eden Mills.

LAUREN MARGISON

Audiences are invited to “Come and savour beautiful melodies exploring the themes of love from Mozart to Joni Mitchell, from opera to jazz, accompanied by pianist, Stephane Mayer,” officials say.

The Feb. 5 concert will include tea, coffee and cupcakes.

Recognized for her ability to communicate with an audience, lyric soprano Lauren Margison is making her mark as a young artist of note.

Eden Mills is fortunate to have the opportunity to hear her at this stage in her career, officials say, noting that after the Eden Mills performance Margison will travel to Mainz, Germany to make her debut in the opera I Pagliacci at the Staatstheater.

Margison commenced her professional career as a jazz singer at the age of 15.

With her father, the renowned tenor Richard Margison, she performed in the popular attraction Back to Back.

Since her graduation from the Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Margison has performed with opera companies and orchestras across Canada.

This season, Margison, who says “Opera is so much fun,” won prizes in the Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition, was a semi-finalist in the Concours International Musical de Montréal and won Edmonton’s inaugural Rumbold Voice Prize.

Organizers say they are excited “to hear Lauren’s beautiful voice in the excellent acoustics of our heritage Community Hall.”

Music at the Hall offers concerts and events to keep the village hopping, and raise funds for the community hall operations.  The heritage hall is proud to be carbon neutral.

The concert is sponsored by Charles and Anna Simon, and John Cripton and Linda Sword. The show is set for Feb. 5. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for students.

The show begins at 2pm (doors open at 1:30) at the Eden Mills Community Hall, 104 York Street, Eden Mills.

Tickets can be purchased at the door (cash) or in advance (PayPal/VISA/E-Mail).
