Aberfoyle fair celebrates Puslinch Roots and Rubber Boots

ABERFOYLE – Celebrating Puslinch Roots and Rubber Boots, this year’s fair offers something for everyone.

Sept. 6

With gates opening at 4:30pm on Sept. 7 all exhibits must be placed in exhibitor halls by 5pm sharp.

On the tractor lot, the antique tractor weigh-ins begin at 5pm followed by the tractor pull at 7pm.

On the grounds, the fair offers balloon artist Mark Vanee from 4:30 to 8:30pm.

As well there will be bouncy castles  (requires $5 activity pass) and new for this year, cotton candy.

Sept. 7

On Saturday, the gates open at 8am with the activity tent offering events throughout the day.

From 10am to 3:30pm there will be various childrens games with prizes as well as a Bubble Zone.

At 12:30pm check out the Loonie In the Straw.

Ball diamond

At 9am, fowl and rabbit entries are to be placed.

Pumpkin judging is at 10:30am while the Bill Crow Memorial Sheep Show, pet show and 4-H judging. 

Livestock pick up is at 4:30pm.

Community Centre Patio

Performances include Two of a Kind from 11am to 12:30pm and The Fabulous Wayne Mack and Friends from 12:30 to 2:30pm.

Kids Pedal Pull registration begins at 1:30pm followed by the actual pedal pull at 2pm.

At 7:30pm a musical evening gets underway.

Throughout, take in the art display available all day long. At the Puslinch librarycheck out the all day book fair or the balloon artist at 10:30am.

For those who love horses, there are two rings of activity. 

Ring 1 offers the 9am Flat Division, the 12:30pm Jumper Division and the 1:30pm Costume division.

Ring 2 offers 11am competitions for those age 12 and under, and a Games Division  beginning at 12:30pm.

Tractor lot

At 3pm is the ATV and garden tractor weigh-in with competitions beginning at 4pm. Tractors will be on display throughout the day.

Check out the grain, roots and  hay entry display, vegetable display, honey display, maple syrup, Junior Garden Club, and pumpkin display 

At 4:30pm the barn closesand exhibits will be ready to be picked up.

Market building

The fair also means extra time at the Aberfoyle Farmers  Market, which will be open from 8am to 4pm.

To get around, there is an all day trackless train which requires a $5 activity pass. All day bouncy castles continue throughout the day as do shows by Mark Vanee Magic  and Sandy the Clown.

SEPT. 8

Sunday includes a 10:30am community worship with the theme “Roots and Boots” in the hall at the community centre. 

The single church service is a unique combination of multiple churches and clergy, including: Rev. Debra Deavu, Arkell United Church; Rev. Kristine O’Brien, Director of Crieff Hills Retreat Centre; Rev. Margaret Ruggles, Mt. Carmel-Zion United Church; Rev. Jane Swatridge, Duff’s Presbyterian Church; and Rev. Michelle Yoon, Knox Presbyterian Church, Crieff.
