With courage and unwavering faith in God’s promises for those who love Him, Bernie passed into eternal life at age 88 in the early hours of Sunday, January 11th, 2026, at home with family by his side after a long battle with Parkinsons. Son of the late Ernest and Kathleen Miller (Flake) and predeceased by all of his siblings, Marshall (Dusty) Miller, Arnold Miller, Monica (Peggy) Oostrom (Martin), Joyce Harper (Al) and Ann Bruschke (Ed). Bernie is predeceased by his wife and dearest mother of his sons, Theresa (2004), and leaves to mourn his wife of 15 years, Margaret, four sons and nine grandsons, truly his pride and joy: John Miller (Valerie and sons Samuel and Maxwell), David Miller (Reanne and sons Michael and Ben), Peter Miller (Ornella and sons Joseph, Matteo, and Nicholas), and Patrick Miller (Sherra and sons James and Andrew). He is also survived and loved by in-laws, Anne and Bill Large (friends since grade one), Charlie and Frances Marshall, Cathy Marshall (Tom), and Michael Marshall (Rena), as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. In 1996, Bernie retired after 40 years as a manager with Scotiabank, a job at which he excelled with his outgoing nature and natural business sense. He was a singer, sailor, boat builder and furniture maker, and proud 4th degree Knight of Columbus, and was honoured to serve St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation, the Rotary Club of Guelph, and Basilica of our Lady. He was a proud supporter of the National March for Life. We have been blessed to have had Bernie – Dad – Poppy, to accompany, guide and support us for all these years.
