Robert ‘Bob’ Henry Anderson of Harriston passed away at Strathcona LTC, Mount Forest on Monday, January 12, 2026, in his 96th year. Brother of John Anderson, and Douglas Anderson, both of Harriston. Lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by sisters Joyce Whittaker and husband Ted, and Dorothy Watson and husband Duncan, by his sister-in-law Dorelene Anderson, and by his parents Ross and Jessie (Rumble) Anderson. Bob was born at the family homestead in Elia, North York Township where he attended Elia Public School. He was the fourth of five children of Ross and Jessie Anderson. Bob attended Western Collegiate Institute where he studied mechanics and his focus on the farm was the machinery and equipment – nick named ‘Mr. Fix-it’. The family moved to Minto Township in 1951 purchasing 100 acres on Highway 9 just south of Harriston. Cherry Lane Holsteins was established – Ross Anderson and Sons – which became widely know and respected for their pure bread, quality Holstein cattle. The family received 2 Master Breeder Awards. He was always a steady hand on the farm and helped to construct some of the structures with his brother, Doug. Bob was active in 4-H, both as a participant in his younger years and a leader when they moved to Minto. As well, he enjoyed his involvement in Jr. Farmers and sports playing hockey, baseball and curling. Bob loved reading, playing cards and watching the Blue Jays. Visitation will be held at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 2-4pm where a private family funeral service will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026. The funeral will be livestreamed and the link available on the funeral home website. Spring interment in Harriston Cemetery.
