FERGUS – Grandma and granddaughter duo, Jo Pearsall and Brynn Law, have released their second novel To the Moon and Back.
This marks the second novel in the Bravery series.
Pearsall said the sequel is longer than the first, which was 156 pages including pictures. Book two has 282 pages and no pictures.
The novel continues the story of Bravery and her friends as they navigate childhood in the Alaskan wilderness and touches on real world complications such as grief and the loss of a friend.
Pearsall says the book is still “wholesome” and has a strong focus on Bravery and her friends’ adventures and childhood shenanigans.
“The kids are going to love it because it’s really focused on kids playing, having fun and mishaps,” said Pearsall.
The author duo also worked hard to include some valuable life lessons for their younger readers.
“There’s a big life lesson from her grandpa, Bubba, about playing on ice,” said Pearsall. “He reflects and tells the story of when he was a child and he fell through the ice on a lake, but his brother saved him at the last second. It’s all his emotions about feeling like he was going to die.”
The book also touches on the effects of teasing others and sees one character take responsibility and apologize.
Book one is currently being sold as far away as China, with readers all over the world and the duo have no doubt their second book will go just as far.
Despite their success, Pearsall says 12 year old Law is “extremely humble.”
“She’s so humble,” said Pearsall.
“She’ll be with her whole hockey team, and doesn’t even tell them she has a second book out.”
To the Moon and Back is available for purchase on Amazon. The book can also be pre ordered through Magic Pebble Books in Elora, with orders being ready for pick up by mid January.
Pearsall and Law have also confirmed that book three is already in the making. Anyone interested in following along with book three can follow the authors on Instagram @braverywildernessgirl.
