Evelyn passed away peacefully at Guelph General Hospital in her 87th year, with family by her side. She is fondly remembered by her husband, George of 41 years. Cherished by her niece, Teresa Brown (Andrew), missed by her cousins Linda Thompson (Larry), Devona Yerkie (Jerry), Paul Idle (Helen), Larry Idle (Sandra), and Carolann Ferguson. She will also be missed by her sister in law Jeanette Lynes. She will be reunited with her parents, Joseph and Lottie Gibson, her brother and sister in law Gordon and Margaret Gibson, former husband Harold Nicol, cousins Don Idle, Claire Idle, Merle Idle, and Glenn Gibson. Evy lived in Priceville, Etobicoke, Markdale, Eugenia, and Fergus. Every where she went she touched hearts and embraced lifelong friendships. Evy loved her family and welcomed all friends into her extended family. She wore her heart on her sleeve and would share her time with anyone who needed it. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026 from 2:00 – 4:00pm & 7:00 – 9:00pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. South, Fergus. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at 11:00am in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Priceville at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Guelph Humane Society.
