GUELPH – Bishop Macdonell Catholic High School student Ryan Cabral won this year’s Wellington Catholic District School Board’s (WCDSB) “Keeping Christ in Christmas” advent poster contest. Director of Education Mike Glazier said “it’s always a great moment when we get to reveal the final work because our students are so, so talented and I’m always moved by the work that they produce and just the level of skill.” Asked about his inspiration behind the poster, Cabral talked about the significance of the colour purple during advent. Purple candles symbolize penance, repentance and the anticipated coming of Christ. Cabral said the spotlight in his poster represents the one white candle that gets lit on Christmas day. The poster was revealed during a board meeting on Dec. 1 and will be displayed on the WCDSB website and in electronic Christmas cards sent to the board’s community partners.
