GUELPH — The Friends of the Guelph Public Library extend thanks to everyone who made the 17th Annual Big Book Sale a success.
Over four days last month, with the support of more than 250 volunteers, the community came together to raise more than $114,000 in support of the Guelph Public Library.
Nearly 5,600 shoppers browsed and bought 62,500 items from a well-curated selection of more than 81,000 donated books, puzzles, DVDs and games for all ages.
“Your enthusiasm for books creates an atmosphere that’s the envy of other events – lively, welcoming, and filled with goodwill,” officials state in a press release.
“Every purchase helps ensure continued support for the Guelph Public Library and its essential programs and resources that benefit people across the city.”
Special thanks go to the volunteers, whose hard work and dedication make this event possible, officials say.
From receiving, sorting and organizing donations to welcoming thousands of shoppers, their efforts demonstrate the generosity and collaboration that define this community, states the press release.
“We also extend our sincere appreciation to The Bamco Group for generously sponsoring our sale location again this year.”
Organizers are thinking about next year’s Big Book Sale and are on the lookout for a large venue (ideally 15,000 square feet or more).
