GUELPH – The FDC (Carlo Fidani) Foundation will match dollar for dollar any donations made to the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital between now and Dec. 31
The hospital foundation is seeking to raise $10 million in support of the hospital’s community based medical centre, soon to open on Speedvale Avenue in Guelph.
The medical centre will expand access to diagnostic imaging services for Guelph patients and those from out of town.
“Donor support is critical to launch the new community-based medical centre, and with this generous matching gift, your gift to our seasonal fundraising efforts this year will go even further,” said Foundation of Guelph General Hospital CEO Julie Byczynski in a press release.
Byczynski said the community has already raised 90 per cent of the funds needed for phase one.
“In this home stretch, every donation will make a difference to close the gap,” she added.
In addition to the match, FDC Foundation has also offered a $1 million gift to support the development and equipment of the community-based medical centre.
Currently under construction at Conestoga College’s Guelph campus, the first phase of the community-based medical centre will focus on diagnostic imaging services to meet the growing demands of Guelph- and Wellington County. This includes a second MRI machine, which will double current capacity, according to officials.
The new MRI machine is scheduled to arrive in December and the centre is to open to patients in early 2026.
“This investment from FDC Foundation will have a lasting impact on our ability to deliver care where it’s needed most,” said hospital president and CEO Mark Walton in a press release.
“The new community-based medical centre will allow us to improve access and convenience for patients, while making space at the main hospital on Delhi Street for increased acute service needs.”
Planning for a future phase of the community-based medical centre is underway and is expected to include additional ambulatory services. Community members who wish to make a donation and take advantage of this limited-time match can do so online, by mail or by calling the foundation office at 519-837-6422.
Donors should specify that their gift is designated to the “community-based medical centre.”
