HALL, Margaret Arlene (née Woods)

June 1, 1931 - November 18, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Arlene Hall. Arlene was a much-loved and cherished wife to Harold Frederick Hall (predeceased Dec. 2022), and a proud, devoted mother to Wayne (predeceased Oct. 2024), Gary (Sherry), Allan (Kelly), Barb Kelloway (Vic), and Kevin (Krista). She was a beloved Grandma to 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, and a treasured sister to Mary Rutherford and Eleanor Watson (predeceased June 2003). Born and raised in the Fergus area, Arlene married Harold in 1954. Together, over 68 years of marriage, they taught their family the true meaning of love and partnership. A country girl at heart, once married, Arlene lived on the Hall Family Farm until she and Harold moved to Elora in 1987. She was a loyal, respected member of her community and a long-term member of Bethany United Church. Arlene thoroughly enjoyed her many years working as clerk-treasurer for Pilkington Township. Words cannot express how deeply Arlene will be missed. She was the life of every gathering, always on the go, whether attending weekly dances in her younger days, enjoying any kind of music event, or playing cards & board games, which she eagerly taught to her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted curling fan, never wanting to miss a match; the Raptors were a close second, and she also cheered for the Toronto Blue Jays. Arlene also loved keeping up with family and friends, always saying, “Sit here beside me and tell me what’s new.” She showed us all how to live life fully, joyfully, and with genuine curiosity for others. In our hearts, she holds a place no one else can ever fill, and each of us will carry our own special memories of her forever. Visitation was held at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 6–8pm. A funeral service took place at Hope Springs United Church in Elora on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 11am, with a reception that followed downstairs in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Arlene’s memory may be made to the Aboyne Rural Hospice and are greatly appreciated by the family.
