Lloyd was born the eighth of ten children and grew up on the family farm on Lot 2, Concession 4, Minto Township. He attended school at S.S. #17, Arthur Township and worked on the farm as a teenager. The Tuck children were well-known as performers in the area. Father Jack was the musician, and Lloyd and 4 sisters sang, danced, and did acrobatics. Lloyd worked at Beattie Brothers in Fergus in the 1950’s, and when the farm was sold he moved to Harriston. He worked at Harriston Fertilizers for 3 years and then decided to take a Barber’s Course in London. In 1963 he purchased the barber shop in Harriston and spent the rest of his working years as a barber. The shop was a popular hangout and lots of stories were shared. Sports were a very important part of his life. He played fastball for 35 years and intermediate hockey for 25 years on teams in Teviotdale and Harriston. Lloyd coached both these sports and was a curler for many years. His love of sports continued on long after he no longer played or coached, and he was a diehard Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan. Lloyd was also an outdoorsman and looked forward eagerly to his annual fishing and hunting trips. Lloyd was a Kinsman and also a member of Harriston Legion. He enjoyed singing as a member of the Mount Forest Harmonaires, a men’s barbershop chorus, and was a lover of old time music which he could enjoy as a volunteer at the Jamborees at Harriston Legion.
