Our hearts are saddened as we say goodbye to our dear mother. She passed peacefully into the eternity she looked forward to at the age of 98. Deeply loved by her seven children, Pauline (Doug) Musselman, Janet, Linda, Lori (Kyle) Barber, Ron (Tammie), Sheila, and Jeff (Jennifer). Marie was beloved by her 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her siblings Nancy Witmer, Kathryn Morrison, and Ken Reesor, sister-in-law Ruth Reesor, and brother-in-law Art Byer. She was embraced by the Brubacher family, the late Vera (Abner), Jean, Esther (Robert), and will be missed by Lena Martin, Landis (Violet) Brubacher. She was predeceased by her loving husband Abner S. Brubacher of 51 years, parents Annie (Wideman) and Carl W. Reesor, daughter Sharon Lucille, son Carl George, grandson Owen Brubacher, and seven siblings Cecil, John, Marion Wenger, Elmer, Harold, Evelyn Byer, and in-laws Norman Wenger, Stella Reesor, Pauline Reesor, Alice Reesor, Owen Witmer, Esther Reesor, and Alex Morrison.
Marie was born in Markham Township on July 25, 1927. She married Abner on June 25, 1952 and bought a farm near Elora, where they lived with their family. She was raised in a simple manner and continued to make choices reflecting those values. Prayer was an important element of her life. Her deep, unwavering faith in her Lord and her selfless attitude impacted her family and those close to her. We will miss her dearly.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S, Elmira and on Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 1 – 1:45pm, at Bethel Mennonite Church, 6772 8th Line West, RR 1, Elora. Interment will take place at 2pm in Bethel Mennonite Cemetery, followed by a funeral service at 2:30pm. As expressions of sympathy and in memory of Marie, donations to Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated, and may be made through the funeral home.
