Mount Forest Chamber of Commerce honours the best of 2025

Annual event sees record number of nominations

MOUNT FOREST – A large group gathered at the Legion here on Oct. 18 to celebrate individuals, organizations and businesses nominated to receive Chamber of Commerce awards of excellence.

“Today is all about excellence – the passion, creativity and commitment that drive our local economy and make our town thrive,” said chamber office administrator Stacy Stevenson as she opened the afternoon event.

Stevenson said there were a record number of nominations received this year across all four categories.

Over 100 nominations were submitted and considered by the selection committee.

Each nominee in attendance was introduced and a brief summary about them was presented.

An anonymous donation allowed each nominee to be gifted with a Mount Forest–Opoly game.

The Corporate Citizen of the Year award was presented to Domino’s Pizza by chamber board member Sherry Chappelle.

She described Domino’s as “more than just a business – they are a cornerstone of community spirit.

“The are consistently the first to step up, donating prizes to volunteer-run events, recognizing local businesses with weekly celebrations, and quietly supporting individuals in need.”

The Youth Citizen of the Year award was presented by chamber president Shawn McLeod and Mount Forest Fireworks Festival chair Sharon Wenger to eight-year-old Adalynn Cook, the youngest recipient to date.

McLeod described Cook as “extraordinary” and commended her for her ability to deliver the Wellington Advertiser with “dedication and a smile.”

She was also recognized for helping on the school bus, supporting seniors, clearing snow and leaves, picking up litter, and donating her birthday presents to those in need.

“Addy’s generosity, hard work and positive attitude make her an outstanding young citizen, and she is truly deserving of this award,” said McLeod.

The Arny Feairs Business Customer Service Award was presented by chamber director Mel Robinson and Tom Potts of Independent Auto.

Before announcing the winner, Potts described the award’s namesake, the late Arny Feairs, as a “local entrepreneur who owned several businesses in Mount Forest over the years.

“Arny always greeted people by name with a big smile on his face. Despite his diminutive stature, Arny had a big personality to go with his big moustache.”

Potts shared Feairs’ belief that “the more we assist and help each other, the more we can succeed.”

The Arny Feairs Business Customer Service Award was presented to Ravi Halani of Pharmasave Mount Forest.

Halani was described as a professional who shows compassion and dedication towards his customers, including patiently answering their questions, and personally delivering medications during emergencies.

The Citizen of the Year award was presented by 88.7 The River’s Chris Holden and Joe Wettlaufer to Jenna McLean, whose achievements include volunteering at Vacation Bible School, the Hope Committee and the Mount Forest Fireworks Festival.

She also founded a mental health awareness group and is planning a marathon for mental health and addictions.

According to Holden, “Jenna’s resilience, compassion, and commitment to improving the lives of others truly embody the spirit of this award.”

Stevenson closed the afternoon event by congratulating the winners and nominees, and thanking the sponsors and committee members.

“You make our town shine,” she said. “Let’s carry this energy, pride and dedication into the year ahead.”
