It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Herman Kappert on October 16, 2025, age 83. Peacefully with family at his side, at Guelph General Hospital. Herman will be remembered by Wilhelmina, his loving wife of 64 years. Loving father to Ingrid Drexler (Alfie), Fred (Leslie) and Jeff (Shanna). Proud grandfather of Shane (Mallory), Brandon (Natasha), Wesley (Lindsay), Joseph (Rachel), Elizabeth, Jeremy (Kenzie), Jake (Callie), Justin, Rylan, and Reanna. Cherished great grandfather to Kennedy, Felix, Maxine, Madison, Sophia, Avia. He is predeceased by his two brothers Gerhard and Henk. Herman had great love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed spending treasured times with them. He will also be missed by his dog Maxie, whom he loved very much. Herman, Wilhelmina and their daughter Ingrid immigrated from Holland in 1964 and built a life together here in Canada. Fred came shortly after, and many years later Jeff was born. Herman was a skilled masonry contractor in the Rockwood, Acton and surrounding communities for many years. He was dedicated to his craft as a contractor. He had a great love for animals and was an avid gardener. He enjoyed the time he spent helping on his daughter’s farm. Herman also loved music, he could play the saxophone and trumpet. In his earlier years he played the trumpet in the Acton Citizen’s Band. The family would like to thank the staff on the 5th floor at Guelph General Hospital for their exceptional care in his last days.
