FERGUS – Centre Wellington Township plans to revitalize Confederation Park in Fergus.
To guide this transformation, the municipality is developing a plan they say will enhance park amenities and user experience, improve accessibility for all visitors, optimize functionality and connectivity and preserve the park’s natural environment.
The township is seeking community input on priorities and ideas.
Some community suggestions received through the recently approved parks and recreation plan include improving trail connections to downtown Fergus and nearby trails, creating inclusive gathering spaces, adding interpretive historical signage, enhancing accessibility, introducing family-friendly activities and lighting improvements.
“Confederation Park is a treasured community space and we’re committed to making it even better for everyone to enjoy,” Mayor Shawn Watters stated in a press release.
“We look forward to hearing from residents as we plan its future.”
The Confederation Park revitalization survey is now open.
Upcoming in-person Confederation Park engagement opportunities include:
– a drop-in public engagement session at the Fergus sportsplex on Oct. 25, from 10am to noon and 1 to 3pm; and
– an in-person charrette on Nov. 8, 10am to 3pm at a location to be determined.
