GUELPH – The Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) has launched a program to recognize students and staff members who have accomplished something outstanding.
During monthly board meetings, one person will be presented with a certificate to congratulate them on their achievements.
Director of education Peter Sovran, superintendent of education Belal Taha and human rights, equity and accessibility commissioner Alicia Ralph introduced the program during the board’s first meeting of the school year on Sept. 23.
Sovran said the program, called UG Ovation, was developed by UGDSB staff and will kickoff at the next board meeting.
It will replace “student and staff recognition,” a time during past board meetings for Sovran to highlight specific achievements, Taha noted.
“UG Ovation will provide a powerful way to celebrate excellence and contributions across the Upper Grand community,” Ralph said.
