Marilyn Stickney of Fergus and Mississauga Ontario, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025 in Oakville, Ontario at the age of 99. Marilyn is survived by daughters Celia Desmond (John) of Mississauga, Kathryn Poole (Vic) of South River and Janet Christmas (Tim) of Sault Ste. Marie; son David Stickney (Teya) of Creemore; grandsons Andrew Desmond (deceased), Christopher Desmond (Miranda) of Eden Mills, Eric Poole (Leisha) of Victoria, Ian Poole (Jess) of Guelph, Justin Christmas of Hamilton, granddaughters Stephanie Desmond (Lillian) of Hamilton, Kimberly Christmas (Brent) of Toronto, and great grandchildren Charlotte Desmond, Sage Desmond, Cohen Poole, Emilia Poole. Marilyn was born in Fergus to Olive and David Foote on August 27, 1926. She graduated from Fergus High School and later because a comptometer operator. In her early career she worked in this field. While living in Athens Ontario she worked in the post office. Later she owned a craft shop selling her many high end crafts, mainly needlework. She had an exciting life, travelling alone through Asia and Australia for 6 months. Funeral service will be held at Giddy Funeral Home at 280 St. David St., Fergus on October 20 at 3pm. Visitation will be held the same day prior to the funeral service from 1-3. Giddy Funeral Home will be handling all the arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. The family extends gratitude to Acclaim Health for assistance with her care in her later years.
