One injured in minor Palmerston house fire

PALMERSTON – One person was sent to hospital with minor injuries as a result of a house fire early on Friday morning.

Minto firefighters responded to a structure fire call on Oct. 3 at about 6:37am in the area of King Street and Albert Street in Palmerston.

“Upon arrival it was determined there was a small fire in one of the bedrooms,” deputy fire chief Callise Loos stated in a press release.

The one occupant of the detached home was outside when crews arrived, she added.

There were no injuries to the 25 firefighters who responded from stations in Palmerston, Harriston and Clifford.

“It is too early to release the cause and origin of the fire as investigations are ongoing,” Loos said.

She estimates the damage at just $500 to $1,000.

“There really wasn’t damage from a structural perspective, [just the] contents of the bedroom,” she said.
