Alan Ghent passed away peacefully at his home in Mount Forest in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Elizabeth Ghent for 17 years. Loved father of Brad Ghent, Martin (Ruth Mae) Ghent, Heather (Keith) Burns, Wendy (Gordon) Burns, Stuart (Teresa) Ghent. Loved step father of Ian (Helen) McGeachie, David (Claire) McGeachie. Loved brother of Velma (late John) Smith, Willard Ghent, Evelyn (Wayne) Dowling. Loved Grandfather of Adam (Trish) Ghent, Matthew (Bethany) Ghent, Brendan Ghent, Bethany (Roy) Wu, Micah (Noriko) Ghent, Aaron (Mayuko) Ghent, Naomi Ghent, Angie (Allan) Magleo, Doug (Lisa) Burns, Simon Burns, Ryan (Paige) Burns, Danielle (Chad) Gordon, Cole Ghent, Jordyn (Scott) Gordon. Also loved by many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Philip (1981) and Myrtle (1969) Ghent, his wife Janette Ghent (2008) and great granddaughter Amber Ghent (2025). Alan started his farming journey in 1955 and started Alette Holsteins in 1965. He was able to watch it grow from milking by hand to robotic milking. Alan enjoyed playing the bagpipes, getting the opportunity to play in the Rose Bowl Parade and for the Queen. He enjoyed bagpiping and Scottish Dancing with his wife Elizabeth. He also enjoyed spending his winters in Cuba after retiring from farming and was able to continue this until 2024 when his health no longer allowed him. A private graveside service was held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at the Woodland Springs Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Crawford Funeral Chapel, Arthur.
