ERIN – Residents here can expect a 3 per cent water rate increase as of next year.
Residents will see a 3% yearly water rate increase until 2030, before moving to a 5% yearly increase until 2034.
An increase of 9% annually was initially presented to council on July 24 as part of the town’s water rate study presented by Watson and Associates Economists Ltd.
Council expressed concerns with the number and asked the company to seek other options.
“Thank you very much for going back,” said councillor John Brennan.
“I think our residents will find 3% a lot more palatable than the original 9%.”
All councillors voted in favour of the increases.
