Down Syndrome Society hosting annual walk, roll event Sept. 28 at Waterloo Park

WATERLOO – The Waterloo Wellington Down Syndrome Society’s annual fundraising walk/roll event is set to take place Sept. 28 at 1pm in Waterloo Park (picnic shelter at 90 Westmount Road North).

Remarks are scheduled for 2pm, to be followed by a 2km walk and roll.

Erick Traplin will provide entertainment following the stroll.

Individuals or teams can register, with funds supporting services and programming for people with Down syndrome and their families, a press release states.

The local organization is reliant on community fundraising, receiving no government funding.

There will be face painting, animal balloons, a marketplace and refreshments.

As of Sept. 23, $48,900 had been raised.

The event runs from 1 to 5pm.
