Passed away peacefully at Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus, Ontario on Sunday, September 7th, 2025 at the age of 76 with her family by her side. Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Linda was the eldest of ten children. From a young age, she played a significant role in helping to care for and raise her younger siblings. At just 15, she met the love of her life, Kevin. Kevin moved to Ontario in 1965, where he patiently waited for Linda to finish high school. After graduating in 1967, she joined him in Ontario, and the two were married in Toronto on August 5th of that year. Linda and Kevin later welcomed their son Shaun and daughter Cathy, raising their children in Ontario with love, simplicity, and an abundance of cherished memories. Though their life was humble, it was rich in connection and warmth. Each summer, Linda found great joy in returning to her beloved Cape Breton with her family — a tradition that brought her deep comfort and happiness. While raising her family, Linda was dedicated to her work as a bookkeeper and office manager for nearly two decades. In her retirement, she and Kevin spent their winters living with their daughter Cathy and her family, and their summers back in Cape Breton — a place that always held her heart. Linda’s bright spirit lit up every room she entered. Whether at family gatherings, outings with friends, or among the various special interest groups and support networks she was part of, Linda’s presence was always warmly felt and dearly appreciated. Throughout her life, Linda faced numerous health challenges with grace, courage, and unwavering strength. No matter what came her way — joy, hardship, or anything in between — she met it with quiet resilience and love. Over the years, Linda and Kevin’s family grew to include eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Her family was her greatest pride, her deepest joy, and her truest purpose. She lived for them — each and every one. Today, that family chain is broken, and her absence is deeply felt. But the love she gave, and the strength she showed, will forever bind those links together in her memory. Linda will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 58 years, Kevin; her children Shaun (Tammy) and Cathy (Patrick); her son-in-law Ron; and her cherished grandchildren: Christopher (James), Amanda (Kenny), Michael (Alex), Daniel (Cassandra), Seth (Cass), Natasha (Adam), Alexandra, and Cameron. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Lucas, Taryn, Eastyn, Elizabeth, Caper, and Flora (Sweetpea) — each of whom brought her immense joy. Linda is survived by her remarkable 100-year-old mother, Florence, and her siblings Bernie (the late Gail), Karen (Leonard), Paul (Pearl), Julie (Terry), Priscella (James), Brian, as well as her sisters-in-law Jean (wife of the late Kenny) and Muriel (wife of the late Don). She was predeceased by her beloved father, Adrian, and her very special brother, Vincie. She will be dearly missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends — all of whom were touched by her kindness, warmth, and generous spirit. Linda’s days were made brighter by the loyal companionship of her beloved four-legged friend, Charlie, who brought her endless comfort and unconditional love. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Groves Memorial Community Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Linda. A special thank you to Dr. Casey Muldoon for her exceptional compassion and kindness, and to Dapinder and the other PSWs from Bayshore who helped Linda each day with such gentleness and dignity. The family is also deeply grateful to the team at St. Joseph’s Day Out Program in Fergus, where Linda found joy, friendship, and connection in her final year. Cremation has taken place.
