Born in Stewiacke, NS as a premature baby, he was named after Dr. Havey and Rev. Parlee, though later in life he was affectionately known as Poppa. Havey loved hockey and played left wing with the Truro Bear Cats APC Senior Hockey league and the Bible Hill Dairymen. He was an avid golfer and played three times a week, even enjoying a round in the weeks leading up to his passing. In his prime, Havey had a 2 handicap in the 70s and lived out his dream playing in St. Andrew’s in Scotland. Havey worked as a compositor for several newspapers: Truro Daily News, Sherbrooke Daily Record, Coin Stamp Antique News and the Toronto Sun. Among other activities he and his wife, Vivian, enjoyed travelling and camping and vacationed 26 seasons in North Fort Myers, Florida. Havey was predeceased by his parents William and Mae Andrews, his infant son, sisters Irene and Dorothy, brothers William and Robert, his daughter-in-law Suzanne and his son-in-law Brian. He is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Vivian Andrews (nee Barclay). He will be missed dearly by his daughter Glenda, and sons Mark, Chris (Bernadette) and Kevin (Margaret). Havey was “Poppa” to his grandchildren Amanda, Paul, Jennifer, Heather, Steven and Brittany and their spouses and to his 12 great-grandchildren. He will be remembered fondly by his brother Ronald (Grace), sister-in-law Cherlyn and his numerous nieces and nephews.
