Guelph Little Theatre announces theatrical season

GUELPH – Guelph Little Theatre has announced the upcoming 2025–2026 season, featuring four productions directed by and featuring local talent.

The season opens with The Game’s Afoot, a murder mystery packed with laughs and sharp twists. It’s December 1936. Broadway star William Gillette, renowned for playing Sherlock Holmes, invites his castmates to his Connecticut castle for a holiday weekend.

But when a guest is murdered, the gathering turns deadly in this clever whodunit set in a house full of secrets and surprises. “Director Todd Davies’ vision promises a thrilling, laugh-out-loud start to the season,” officials stated.

The holiday show is Alice in Wonderland, adapted by Eva Le Gallienne and Florida Friebus from Lewis Carroll’s classics.

“This Broadway favourite captures the whimsy and wordplay of both Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass,” officials stated. “With GLT lifetime member Rosalind Slater at the helm, this timeless fantasy will enchant audiences of all ages and bring a little holiday magic to the stage.”

After the holidays, the theatre shifts gears with The 39 Steps, a fast-paced spy spoof that blends Hitchcock suspense with Monty Python humor.

Directed by Jane Watson, this comedy features four actors playing over 150 characters, with plane crashes, chases, disguises, and romance all packed into one uproarious evening.

The season closes with Noël Coward’s Blithe Spirit, a sparkling comedy of manners, marriage and the supernatural.

When novelist Charles Condomine hosts a séance to spark ideas for his next book, he accidentally summons the ghost of his late first wife, Elvira.

Chaos, jealousy, and hilarity follow as Charles tries to navigate life with two wives – one living, one not. Under the direction of duo Alex Kanarek and Jennifer Tiffin, this classic will deliver a stylish and side-splitting finale.
