Of Wellington North, passed away at home on Thursday, August 28, 2025 in his 78th year. Survived by his brother Mervin Lyons of Edmonton, AB, sisters Marjorie and husband Charles Copland of Minto Township, Florence and husband Brian Van Meer of Mount Forest, Diane and husband Ernie Scott of Southgate Township, and Jean Conway of Harriston. Survived by his brother-in-law Arthur McDonald of Mount Forest, and Aunt Stella Carmount of Southgate Township. Dave will be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and extended family. Predeceased by his parents Emery and Elsie (Bradley) Lyons, sister Doris McDonald, brother Donald Lyons and still-born infant brother. Dave was a well-known person in the community. He worked for Sandy Construction and then Minto Township for over 30 years. Most recently, Dave worked for Dennison Contracting Ltd. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 296, where he volunteered for many years until his health declined. He loved his animals, and chores always took him a little longer because of the extra care and attention he gave to each of them. Dave enjoyed a Tim Horton’s coffee or lunch at A&W with friends and neighbours; he will be missed. Visitation will be held at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest, on Thursday, September 4th from 5:00-8:00pm, where the funeral service will be held on Friday, September 5th at 1:00pm, with visitation from 12:00-12:45pm. Interment at Mount Forest Cemetery. Following, all are invited to Mount Forest United Church for light refreshments.
