The family is deeply saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Peter George Rowe, on July 24th, 2025 at the Wellington Terrace in Elora, Ontario, in his 92nd year. He leaves behind his loving partner of 26 years Lois Lanktree (nee Murray), his children David, Kathleen, Philip and George, six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Peter is also survived by his sister Hilary of Wales. Predeceased by his parents Philip and Norah Rowe and his brother Howard. Peter immigrated to Canada in the early 1950’s as a very young man, to pursue his love of photography but instead decided to become a coatings and paint Chemist. Peter’s work took him to many locations around the world, including Quebec, Sao Paulo in Brazil, Georgia U.S.A., Wales, Victoria B.C., San Luis Potosi Mexico and Ontario. He had many hobbies, motorcycling, scuba diving instructor, hiking the Niagara Escarpment, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. Another of Peter’s favorite pass-times was his love of cooking and baking, often foraging for mushrooms and native berries in the woods for his daring recipes. He was also a fine wine maker, using fresh and local Strawberry-Rhubarb, elderberry and chokecherrys in his vintages. Peter made his last home in Fergus, enjoying our beautiful gardens and spending every Saturday afternoon, for 14 years, at the Lancaster Jazz Club in Kitchener. The Lancaster was a place of great enjoyment, where Lois and Peter loved dancing and making wonderful lasting friendships. Peter was not afraid to take risks and is best described as an adventurist, humble, kind and above all a true gentleman. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. John Stickney and all of the staff in Walnut Grove at the Wellington Terrace. Cremation has taken place. Peter’s wishes were to have his cremated remains scattered in the many places he so enjoyed. Peter, Dad, Pop, may you rest in peace.
