ABOYNE – The Wellington County Museum and Archives (WCMA) is hosting a special movie night featuring Canadian film Peace by Chocolate.
Described in a county press release as “heartwarming,” the award-winning film tells the true story of a Syrian refugee family rebuilding life in Nova Scotia through a chocolate-making business.
The screening comes alongside the museum’s current immigration-focused exhibitions:
– Refuge Canada, created by the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, exploring Canada’s place in the global refugee crisis; and
– Destination Wellington: Newcomers to Neighbours, celebrating the diverse journeys of people who have chosen to build their lives in Wellington County.
Museum and archives curator Hailey Johnston said the film “beautifully ties together the themes explored in two of our current exhibitions.”
Peace by Chocolate will be screened Aug. 28.
Doors open at 6pm, with the film starting at 7pm.
Tickets are $10 (not inlcuding HST) per person and can be purchased online at wellington.ca/form/peace-by-chocolate-movie-night, or at the door if there’s room.
