BARRATT, Jean Lenore

February 11, 1931 - July 6, 2025

Jean Lenore Barratt (nee Gould), a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away suddenly but peacefully on July 6th 2025, at the age of 94 at Wellington Terrace in Fergus, Ontario. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Jean was the youngest daughter of late Forest and Ruby Gould. After moving several times in her younger years, she settled on Cedar Brook farm in Campbellville, where she lived for 45 years tending to animals and her flower gardens. She always welcomed family and friends on the farm… gatherings and reunions from which she held fond memories that she recalled until her last days. She worked for many years and retired from McMaster University Alumni. In her later years, she moved to Pine Meadows in Belwood, where she found deep and lasting friendships with the residents, and made several contributions to the community. Jean was married to the late Ross Edmund Barratt for 60 years. Their marriage was one of partnership, joy, and shared purpose. She carried these memories close in her heart following his passing in 2011. She is survived by her daughters Susan Anderson (former son-in-law Dave Anderson) and Kathy McClelland; her grandchildren Christopher Anderson (Wiktoria Kagan) and Andy McClelland (Laura Chau); great grand-son Jax Anderson, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was pre-deceased by her husband Ross Barratt, sister Eleanor Gallinger, and son-in-law Don McClelland. Her sense of humour, positive outlook on life, and quiet strength will carry in the hearts of everyone who knew her. The family extends sincerest appreciation and thanks to the staff and residents at Wellington Terrace for their kindness, care, and camaraderie with which Jean was surrounded in her final years and moments. The Funeral Service was held in the McKersie & Early Funeral Home Chapel, 114 Main Street East, in Milton, ON on Friday, July 11th, 2025. Burial took place at St. David’s Presbyterian Church Cemetery at 132 Main St. N. in Campbellville, ON. To honour Jean’s memory, the family would be appreciative of donations to the Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus or to a charity of your choice.
