Alex Robertson is first inductee in Scottish festival Hall of Fame

FERGUS – To mark its 80th anniversary the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games is introducing a Hall of Fame and the first inductee is festival founder Alex Robertson.

There will be two levels of recognition – Fearless Leader, recognizing past presidents of the festival, and Outstanding Contributor, acknowledging those individuals who have contributed significantly to the festival and organization.

Only individual persons are eligible for nomination.

“The festival would not be celebrating 80 years without the significant contributions of our volunteers, partners, and supporters” stated executive director Elizabeth Bender in a press release. “It is wonderful to have a chance to acknowledge their contributions.”

Inductees will be announced each spring and recognition will take place at the festival.

“The idea of a Hall of Fame recognition program has been something the board has thought about for many years,” stated president Matthew Bennett-Monty.

“With the 80th anniversary celebrations in full swing, the timing was right to move forward with this new program.”
