Passed away peacefully in the palliative care unit of St. Joseph’s hospital in Guelph on June 21st 2025 at the age of 103. Born in Edinburgh Scotland on March 7th 1922, she immigrated to Canada in 1946 after marrying a Canadian soldier, Clayton Bridge. They lived in Palmerston from 1946 to 1959 when they moved to Fergus. During her time in Fergus Margaret was a Girl Guide leader, president of the Fergus Legion Ladies Auxiliary, a curler, and worked for many years in the Sears order office in downtown Fergus. She was also a member and volunteer with St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Fergus. A thank you to the church for providing the church newsletters and service info each week to her. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Clayton in 1999 and her daughter-in-law Lori (John) in 2020. She leaves behind her daughter Heather (David Jack) of Sault Saint Marie and her grandchildren Joanne (Josh), Jeff (Carrie), Jordon (Shirling) and her great grandchildren Madison, Jacob, Gracie, Noah, and Jade. Her son John of Fergus and her grandchildren Tyler of Guelph, Courteney (Forrest) of Guelph, and Caroline (Sebastian) of Kitchener. What can be said about such a perfect Mother and Grandmother and Great Grandmother for the love and caring she provided for the entire family. Margaret was a very proud Scots/Canadian and loved the pipes. Her favourite pipe tune being Highland Cathedral. The family extends a thank you to Dr. John Stickney and to the nurses and all staff at Highland Manor retirement lodge in Fergus for going above and beyond the care that was needed and provided from time to time during her 8 years and 7 months as a resident. The fond memories of caring nurses, staff, and residents, and special weekly entertainment made her so very happy and comfortable. The family speaks highly of Rob Singleton and his staff in the care provided to their Mum Margaret. A very extra special thank you to Margaret’s niece Caitlin Black from Heather and John for the countless upon countless hours of extra care and attention provided to their Mum and for all the birthday decorations over the years. Thank you Caitlin. As per her wishes cremation has taken place and the family will have a private interment at Belsyde Cemetery in Fergus at a later date.
