FERGUS – Pony Club members will be participating in Mounted Games at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex on July 13.
The Mounted Games, also known as Prince Phillip Games, are team relay races and activities including vaulting on and off ponies, navigating slalom courses on horseback.
Originating with Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, these games are designed to be fun, develop riding skills and foster teamwork and sportsmanship among young riders, officials say.
The event is organized by the Western Ontario Region Pony Club. The club is “dedicated to encouraging youth leadership, responsibility and compassion through education and stable/horse management,” officials stated.
Spectators are welcome to attend the competition, which runs from 9am until 3pm. There will be a barbecue from 11am to 1pm.
Admission is free and pets are welcome.
