Catholic high schools raise over $60,000 at Relay for Life

GUELPH – St. James Catholic High School hosted a Relay for Life event on May 16, raising a total of more than $60,000 in support of the fight against cancer.

The event was a collaboration between St. James, St. John Bosco, Bishop Macdonell and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic high schools.

Jeff Cummings’ sport leadership and event management class lead activities throughout the day.

The day began with a luminary ceremony honouring those in the community who have been affected by cancer – “both those we’ve lost and those still fighting,” officials stated.

This was followed by a survivor’s lap where families and students walked in support of survivors and those who have passed.

The event featured a variety of activities, including a flag football tournament, an energetic Zumba session, an inflatable obstacle course and games and race challenges.
