ERIN – Each June, communities across Ontario celebrate Recreation and Parks Month (RPM) to recognize the role that parks and recreation play in enhancing quality of life, Erin officials say.
RPM is supported by municipalities, community organizations, and schools to highlight the physical, social, and environmental benefits of being active and engaged, they add.
Access to parks and recreational opportunities is a fundamental need that supports personal well-being, strengthens communities, and fosters social inclusion, town officials say.
They add RPM shines a spotlight on Ontario’s incredible recreation and park services and the critical role they play in building healthy, vibrant communities.
To celebrate RPM, the Town of Erin is offering a full calendar of free, inclusive activities for residents throughout the month of June.
“From pickleball and roller skating to youth ball hockey, there’s something for all ages to help you stay active, have fun, and connect with your community,” states a town press release.
“We’re proud to support Recreation and Parks Month by offering … opportunities for residents to enjoy our local facilities and stay active. It’s a great reminder of the power of recreation to bring people together and enhance our quality of life,” stated Mayor Michael Dehn.
