Submissions for Ontario Culture Days now open

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Elora and Fergus Tourism and the Elora Fergus Arts Council are once again working together to bring Ontario Culture Days to life in Centre Wellington, and are looking for local artists and organizations that want to participate.

Culture Days is the largest collective public participation campaign undertaken by the arts and cultural community of Canada and this year it runs from Sept. 19 to Oct. 12.

Every year, thousands of events are connected under the celebratory banner of Culture Days to increase public engagement in cultural experiences through free, participatory arts and culture events.

Centre Wellington has lots to be proud of and now a ranking to maintain.

In 2023, Centre Wellington was recognized as the number one community in the “Towns and Rural Areas” category and ranked fifth nationally.

Building on that momentum, the community once again claimed the top spot in the “Towns and Rural Areas” in 2024 and placed ninth nationally – a testament to the vibrant arts and cultural spirit that thrives in the township, officials state in a press release.

These achievements would not have been possible without the creativity, dedication, and hard work of local event organizers.

As planning gets underway, organizers are seeking participants to sign up.

This year’s theme in Centre Wellington, “Canvas of Cultures – Celebrating Diversity and Artistic Expression,” reflects the rich diversity and artistic vibrancy that thrives within Centre Wellington.

All artists, performers, makers, and cultural groups are invited to showcase their work.

It’s a fantastic way to connect with fellow artists and share your creativity with the entire community.

Look through the Culture Days 101 Info Deck to learn more about Culture Days, the benefits of participating, and how you can get involved.

Getting involved

Sign Up: Cultural organizers need to create an account on the official Culture Days website to submit their events.

Submit Your Event: The official Culture Days website opened on May 15 and you’ll need to have your event submitted by July 1 to be eligible to apply for the Township of Centre Wellington’s Microgrant Funding.

Get Noticed: After submission, you will be notified that your event has been published. It may take up to 48 hours for your event to be published on the website.

Important Note: Only events submitted and published on the Ontario Culture Days website, and microgrant requests received by July 1 will be considered for funding.

If you miss the deadline, you are still welcome to add your event to the website, but it won’t be eligible for the township’s microgrant funding.
