GUELPH – The Guelph Humane Society’s (GHS) largest outdoor fundraiser of the year is back.
The third annual Happy Trails Walk-a-thon, proudly presented by Wellington Laboratories, takes place on June 8 at the GHS facility at 190 Hanlon Creek Blvd. This family- and dog-friendly event brings together animal lovers for a day of community, compassion and walking in support of vulnerable animals across Guelph and Wellington County. Participants can register as individuals or teams to walk either a 1 km or 5 km route.
“This is more than just a walk, it’s a celebration of second chances,” said GHS executive director Lisa Veit.
“Every step helps provide food, shelter, medical care and love to animals who need it most.”
The goal for this year’s walk is to raise $35,000 in support of the Greatest Need Fund, which provides life-saving shelter and care for homeless and at-risk animals. The day begins at 8am with registration and pre-walk activities, followed by the official walk at 10am.
Participants can enjoy the Speedy Woof Zone powered by Speedy Auto Service Guelph, which includes a free pancake and waffle breakfast compliments of Platters Catering and Events, pet-friendly vendors, relaxing massage stations, and kids’ activities.
Pet owners are encouraged to bring their canine companions to join the fun.
Those who register as a walker or team captain by May 23 will be automatically entered in the Quick Paw Contest, with a chance to win a $100 Stone Road Mall gift card, a limited-edition Walk-a-thon T-shirt, and a prize basket for their furry friend. The event happens rain or shine and wraps up by 1pm. To register or for more information, visit guelphhumane.ca/walk.
