NORTH WELLINGTON – The North Wellington Community News earned four awards in the Ontario Community Newspaper Association’s Better Newspapers competition.
The newspaper placed first overall in best editorial (circulation over 8,000) for Chris Daponte’s Time to drop the ‘neutrality’ act editorial.
The Community News also won first place for best feature/unit pages. The feature showcased the Drayton Farm Show and all it has to offer.
Second place was earned for in-house promotion by Alicia Roza and third in special section for the paper’s Remembrance Day pages.
Alicia Roza also earned an honourable mention for the best use of colour.
“Once again, our staff members have been honoured for valuable community journalism,” Community News publisher Dave Adsett stated.
“From top notch design, to important community reporting, we employ some of the best in the province.”
In Ontario, there are 138 title members of the Ontario Community Newspaper Association.
“The publishers of those newspapers provide opportunities for journalists and graphic designers to practice their craft,” Adsett stated.
“I am thrilled to see those efforts recognized by peers and judges across Ontario.”
